I grew up with a dream, a dream to play professional football. To achieve that dream, as a fourth grader, I began running six days a week and lifting three days a week. I continued that pattern of dedication and training throughout high school and was awarded college scholarships from across the country. I chose Miami University. At Miami, my growing success on the field was matched only by the growing destruction in my Spirit. I brought this destruction on (in the usual ways) by making poor decisions and destructive choices. This self-destruction eventually drove me to a crisis of faith. Would I reject God and turn my back on Him completely or would I surrender all that I am to Him? It was in this time of crisis that God broke through; He washed me clean and poured His love and life into me. Since that day, I have been compelled to share His love and life with others.
I have been married to my bride Deb for 34 years (she has one of the purest, kindest, servant hearts I have ever seen). Together we have been blessed with five incredible daughters, five awesome son-in-laws, two energized grandsons and six sweet (sometimes semi-sweet) granddaughters (sometimes they like to pick on their Papa). As is evident, family is a big deal to Deb and I. In addition, I enjoy taking walks with God, working out, reading, hiking with friends, frequenting coffee shops, helping others and looking for ways to share God’s love. My passion is to “Live like Jesus, Love like Jesus and Leave what Jesus left behind” i.e. love, life, kindness, healing, wholeness, forgiveness, grace, truth, salvation, etc… As a pastor/teacher, my passion is to help others do the same.
